About the event

A two hour in-person class diving into the planning and planting process of winter grown cut-flower crops for Spring harvest in North Texas. Home gardeners are welcome but this is a technical class geared toward flower farming.Some of what we'll cover:Crops to winter grow in our zone: perennials, woodies, bulbs, corms, and hardy annuals. Working backward - crop planning from a sales goal. Scheduling Autumn seed starting, transplanting, and direct seeding. Hardiness of Spring crops (to cover or uncover). Vernalization and day-length considerations. Basic overview of plant spacing, pinching, and overwintering techniques.
